What is the gold ring on some avatars?

A gold animated ring with a small crown means that person recently won a tournament — it is a champion frame that lasts about a week after their win. A red ring with a LIVE chip means they are streaming right now.

Gold ring + crown — tournament champion

When someone wins a tournament, their avatar gets a gold animated ring and a small crown for roughly seven days. It is a temporary flex that celebrates the win and then expires on its own.

Red ring + LIVE chip — streaming now

A red ring with a LIVE label means that person is broadcasting at this moment. Tap the avatar to jump straight into their stream.

Rings are not shown on masked Vanguard moderator personas, who appear anonymously by design.
