How do I chat during a stream?

Open the chat panel next to (or below) the stream, type in the message box, and send. Chat is live and shared with everyone watching. Some streamers run slow mode or followers-only chat, so if you can't post yet, you may need to follow them or wait a few seconds between messages.

Stream chat is where the stream actually becomes a hangout. It runs live alongside the video: on desktop the chat sits to the side, on a phone it sits below or slides over the player. Type in the box, hit send, and your message appears for the streamer and everyone else in the room.

Send a message

  1. Open the stream you want to watch.
  2. Find the chat box (beside the video on desktop, below or over it on mobile).
  3. Type your message and send it.
  4. Keep it friendly. Public stream chat is moderated, so the usual rules apply.

If you cannot post yet

  • Followers-only mode: the streamer limited chat to followers. Follow them and you can join in.
  • Slow mode: there is a short wait between messages to keep chat readable. Give it a few seconds.
  • You are muted or banned in that chat: a moderator restricted you for that stream.
  • You are signed out: you need to be logged in to chat.

Public stream chat is moderated for safety. Streamers and their mods can slow it down, restrict it to followers, ban or mute people, and block specific words. Private DMs and squad chats are separate and are not moderated.

Can the streamer see my message?

Yes. Chat is shared with the streamer and all viewers in real time. That is how you get shout-outs and replies.

Why did my message disappear?

It may have been removed by a moderator, caught by the streamer's blocked-words list, or filtered by safety moderation.
