What is a Stream Boost and how does it work?
A Stream Boost is a one-time 50-coin spend that unlocks public streaming on the free plan and pushes your stream harder in discovery so more people find you. It is not money you lose: it refunds itself out of the first 50 coins of tips you earn while it is active. Lite and Pro do not need it at all.
A Stream Boost is the small spark that gets a free-plan stream off the ground. On the free plan, your first public broadcast needs 100 followers and one 50-coin Stream Boost. The boost does two things at once: it opens the gate to public streaming, and while it runs it amplifies your stream in discovery so the right viewers actually see you go live.
The part people miss is that the 50 coins are not gone. They come back to you out of the first 50 coins of tips you earn during the boosted stream. If you get any real engagement at all, the boost effectively pays for itself.
What the boost actually does
- Unlocks public streaming on the free plan (alongside the 100-follower requirement).
- Pushes your stream to more viewers while you are live, and matches it to people who watch this kind of stream rather than simply showing it to more people at random.
- Runs for a set time with a visible countdown, so you can see exactly how long you have left.
- Stacks: other people can boost you too, up to a ceiling, and each boost extends how long you stay boosted.
- Makes you eligible to be surfaced to viewers who are most likely to tip and support.
- Refunds itself from the first 50 coins of tips you earn during that stream.
Why it exists
Empty streams are bad for everyone. They are discouraging to broadcast into, and they make discovery feel dead for viewers scrolling for something to watch. A tiny, refundable boost keeps public streaming feeling alive and gives genuinely active streamers a real shot at being seen, instead of getting buried. It is ignition, not a toll.
When you do not need it
Lite and Pro skip the boost and the follower requirement entirely. You stream from day one, at higher quality. Squad streams also skip it: you can run a squad hangout or stream with your crew without any boost or follower mark at all, which is a low-pressure way to practise before going fully public.
You only spend the boost when you actually go live publicly on the free plan. It is not a subscription and not a recurring charge.
Do I pay the boost every time I stream?
It applies to free-plan public streams. Because it refunds from your first 50 coins of tips, an active stream effectively covers it each time. Lite and Pro never pay it.
What if I earn no tips during a boosted stream?
Then the boost is not refunded for that session, since the refund comes from tips earned. The 50 coins still bought you the discovery push and the unlock.
Can I boost on Lite or Pro for extra reach?
Yes. Paid plans stream from day one without needing a boost to unlock public streaming, but anyone on any plan can boost a live stream for extra reach. That is a separate thing from the free-plan unlock.
Can I boost someone else's stream?
Yes, and you do not have to be a streamer at all. Open the gift menu on any live stream and switch to Boost. If you have earned a Boost token from your rank, you can spend that instead of coins, on anyone's stream.
What happens if several people boost the same stream?
The boosts add up to a ceiling, and each one extends how long the stream stays boosted. Past the ceiling, extra boosts keep the stream boosted for longer but do not push it any further.
Boost tiers
Boost is bought from the gift menu on a live stream, next to tipping. There are three tiers, and each runs for a set time with a countdown you can see.
- Boost, 50 coins: 1.5x reach for 15 minutes.
- Super Boost, 150 coins: 2.5x reach for 30 minutes, matched to people who watch this kind of stream.
- Mega Boost, 500 coins: 4x reach for an hour, plus a slot in the live rail on the home feed.
Boost tokens from your rank
Every rank band grants a Boost token as you level up. A token spends exactly like the 50-coin Boost and costs you nothing, and it works on any public live stream, not just your own. If you level up but do not stream yourself, you can hand your boost to a creator you want more people to see.
