Early Development Concepts for Uncharted 5 Were Previously Discussed
Following the conclusion of Nathan Drake’s narrative arc in 2016’s A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog explored the potential for a future installment in the Uncharted franchise. According to industry reporter Tom Henderson, the studio initiated preliminary planning for a fifth entry before the global health crisis disrupted operations. These initial discussions took place several years ago, though the studio ultimately did not move forward with a full-scale production at that time.
While the prospect of a new title was considered internally, no formal announcements or project greenlights followed these early sessions. The information, shared during a recent episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, clarifies that while the concept was definitely on the table, it remained in the conceptual stages rather than evolving into a confirmed development project. Naughty Dog has since shifted its focus toward other endeavors, leaving the long-term status of the series officially unaddressed by the developers.
